Kamala on Immigration
In the early weeks of the Biden administration, Vice President Kamala Harris was tasked with coordinating efforts with regional key players to address the root causes of migration. Later, she provided resources to these countries. However, these strategies did not secure the border, and the situation for more than 11 million non-citizens remained unchanged. Instead, it armed the GOP with immigration talking points that could jeopardize Kamala's White House bid.
Democrats who care about immigration reform are deeply connected to the lives of undocumented non-citizens, which is central to Kamala’s core. Her campaign has one message: freedom. Now is the opportunity for her to change the narrative around the border and highlight the contributions of immigrants to American society and the economy. She must explain how immigration reform can secure America's border and future, as these non-citizens are future taxpayers, and legalizing them is the right thing to do.
Trump is campaigning on mass deportations and restrictive immigration policies that will harm the American economy and tear families apart. Kamala needs to emphasize the differences between her immigration policies and those of Biden and Trump. In a recent media interview, Senator Elizabeth Warren pointed out that Biden's immigration fixes are not enough. Kamala will work with Congress to bring a permanent solution to the border crisis and provide a pathway to citizenship for non-citizens who call America their home. This is freedom, and Kamala needs to stand up for it.
