Why not Kamala?

Vice President Kamala Harris has often expressed her desire to be as loyal a vice president to Biden as he was to Obama. By standing by Biden amidst calls from senior Democrats for him to step down, Kamala has positioned herself as the mainstream Democratic choice if Biden withdraws from the race. However, many Democrats remain uncertain about fully backing her, especially with potential favorites like California Governor Gavin Newsom and former First Lady Michelle Obama in the mix.

If Nikki Haley's prediction that Kamala could become President due to Biden's age and potential reelection comes true, there are still four more years to consider. So, if Kamala is likely to take over anyway, why not support her candidacy once Biden steps aside? Well, her struggles in the Democratic primaries suggest she faces significant challenges and may not be seen as a strong candidate. Nonetheless, things can change quickly in politics. Given her position as the next in line, there's a high probability that Democrats will eventually put their reservations aside and rally behind her for a White House bid. But for now, it’s still a toss up, Newsom and Michelle are still at play the moment Biden withdraws.
