RFK Can’t Debate
Two days ago, it was announced that RFK, the leading Third Party Independent candidate, is barred from participating in the June 27 CNN debate. The qualification criteria were raised: candidates must be polling at 15% in four qualifying polls and demonstrate that they are on state ballots that could lead to 270 electoral college votes. RFK filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, alleging that CNN's debate rules favor the two mainstream party candidates. On his X account, RFK stated, "President Trump and President Biden don’t agree on much, but they do agree on excluding me from the debate stage. They’ve colluded with CNN to rig the debate rules and block my participation so they don’t have to answer tough questions about the lockdowns, the $34 trillion national debt, the chronic disease epidemic, or the toxic polarization that drives their campaigns. Both former presidents are making a mockery of democracy, but I’m never going to back down.” The CNN debate is not organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates, though the qualification criteria are similar. Consequently, RFK will miss the opportunity to present an alternative voice and policies against Biden and Trump’s polarizing campaigns.
