Not the Border
If you’re still buying into Trump’s narrative that Kamala Harris has a 'border problem,' it’s time for a reality check. VP Harris has already debunked the 'Border Czar' label that the GOP tried to pin on her. From her first policy initiatives, she tackled border issues head-on, and at every town hall and campaign stop, she’s successfully explained how the Border Bill was shelved rather than resolved, addressing the issue decisively. But Trump continues to emphasize border and immigration issues because they were key to his first White House victory.
However, in her latest CNN interview, Harris faced criticism from within her own party, particularly over her policy position on Israel’s war in Gaza. In the interview, Harris seemed to reaffirm a status quo policy on Israel, which has left many Democrats uneasy. The party is increasingly calling for new approaches, as people are tired of war and the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people. While Harris has emphasized the importance of a ceasefire and the release of hostages, there’s a growing demand for more. By distancing herself from Biden’s unwavering support for Israel and the continued arms supplies, Harris has an opportunity to redefine the U.S.’s relationship with Israel. Democrats want to hear that she will support the Palestinian right to self-determination and their right to live on their own land. A complete and total ceasefire is necessary for peace and stability in the region, but it’s just the beginning as Palestinians move towards freedom and rebuilding their lives all over again, and this time around, it’s time for them to call the shots on their own land and future.
