Marijuana Pardon
Biden's pardon for marijuana-related offenses is specifically targeted for individuals who have committed simple possession of marijuana, attempted simple possession of marijuana, or used marijuana on federal facilities and installations. The primary aim of the pardon is to eliminate obstacles related to housing, education, and employment opportunities for these individuals. However, it's important to note that the pardon has a narrow scope—it applies exclusively to US citizens or legal residents and does not extend to non-citizens or individuals lacking legal status in the US.
Furthermore, the pardon excludes offenses involving the possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and driving offenses committed while under the influence of marijuana. President Biden clarified that, in accordance with the procedures outlined in Proclamation 10467, the Attorney General, acting through the Pardon Attorney, will thoroughly assess all properly submitted applications for certificates of pardon and issue such certificates to eligible applicants in a timely manner.
