Nepal’s Unrelentless Rains
Since September 27, Nepal has been hit by relentless rainfall with no signs of stopping. UNICEF reports that local authorities estimate 217 people have lost their lives, including 35 children. The continuous downpour has triggered landslides, blocked major roads with debris, damaged hundreds of homes and critical infrastructure, and displaced countless individuals and families. UNICEF is actively on the ground, delivering essential aid and life-saving supplies such as hygiene kits, bed nets, buckets, water purification tablets, and tarpaulins to children and their families. Alice Akunga, UNICEF’s representative, expressed her deep concern, stating, “I am deeply worried about the children who will sleep outside tonight and in the coming days; we must act quickly.”
