Is the VP Ready?

As discussions surrounding President Biden’s age and cognitive abilities intensify within conservative media circles, Vice President Kamala Harris finds herself in a new position of scrutiny. There's a looming question about her preparedness in case President Biden, due to age or health concerns, cannot complete his term, potentially propelling Harris into the presidency. This hypothetical situation, outlined by GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley on the campaign trail, suggests Harris could become the first female President. The pivotal question remains: Can Harris convince the nation she's equipped for this substantial role?

A notable aspect is Harris' expanded portfolio in foreign and international affairs as Vice President, an area where she lacked prior experience. This exposure ostensibly enhances her readiness for the presidency. However, she faces the challenge of dispelling doubts and aligning her policies to resonate with mainstream voters while showcasing her leadership capabilities. Harris' role as "Border Czar," though not her preferred title, allowed her to engage with Latin American countries to address migration at its root causes. However, this approach has since been criticized, with the border issue being weaponized by the GOP to rally support.

Harris must acknowledge and rectify the shortcomings of her past approaches, recognizing that as President, she must make flawless, critical decisions. While initially adopting a supportive stance akin to Biden's tenure as Obama's VP, the tumultuous Trump era may necessitate a shift in strategy for Harris. She must vigorously defend her policies and leadership style to sway public opinion and leave a lasting impact on voters that indeed she’s always White House ready.
