Harris Debates on 4th?

Should Vice President Harris accept Trump's challenge to debate him on Fox News on September 4th? The original debate was scheduled for September 10th on ABC, but ever since President Biden steps down from pursuing another term, things had totally turned upside down however Harris could take over the debate without altering the date or format as this debate is technically a done agreed deal, but of course Trump can argue that the deal was struck when Biden was still the Democratic nominee. Trump’s campaign, however also insists on the September 4th date on Fox News. While Harris’s team has expressed a willingness to debate Trump anytime and anywhere, several factors need consideration before accepting the Fox News challenge.

Firstly, Trump seems to prefer a debate with a live audience, which could skew the atmosphere in his favor, as opposed to the Biden debate, which had no audience. This could result in an audience more inclined towards Trump unless Fox can balance the crowd to ensure fairness.

Secondly, participating in a debate on Fox News could expose Harris to increased scrutiny from GOP critics and the potential for attacks on her record and policies. One solution could be pre-arranging questions to ensure a fair and transparent debate.

Lastly, Trump’s refusal to debate on ABC due to a lawsuit with the network and its main anchor seems flimsy, as the moderator in question, will not be directly involved. Moreover, the ABC debate had been previously agreed upon.

On the flip side, debating on Fox News offers Harris a chance to engage directly with GOP voters, potentially addressing their concerns and showcasing her policies. However, this approach carries its own risks which takes the ball court back to Harris camp and how they will navigate this risky route.
