Dems: Biden Stuck
Following what the White House termed the “Big Boy Press Con,” where President Biden made a minor gaffe by referring to the Vice President as "VP Donald Trump," there have been calls for Biden to step down from nearly 20 Democrats, including prominent figures like Representatives Jim Hines, and Adam Smith, and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi giving the “weird” let Biden be and decide what he wants to do cold shoulder answer in a recent interview. Despite these calls, President Biden appears to be resolute in continuing his campaign.
So, what motivates him to keep going even with top donors like George Clooney publicly expressing concerns about his candidacy? A significant factor is the support of his wife, Jill Biden. Reports indicate that the First Lady has been a key force behind the Biden campaign, actively campaigning and reminding voters of their choice in the last election that led to Trump's defeat.
As criticisms regarding Biden’s mental and physical fitness persist and the recent debate performance raised concerns, speculation grows over why a Parkinson’s expert has visited the White House multiple times. Meanwhile, former MSNBC host Chris Matthews has defended Biden, suggesting that he still has the capability to lead and that minority voters will continue to support him, even if elite Democrats withdraw their backing.
Despite the bundled issues facing Biden, it is clear he is not giving up. Perhaps he alone knows his true reasons. As Pelosi suggested, it might be best to let Biden decide his own course. However, the Democratic Party is not standing still. An upcoming Democratic convention could serve as a turning point if vulnerable Democrats rally together. Without a coordinated effort, they risk missing the chance to replace Biden on the ticket. For now, it seems Biden remains the Democratic choice, not Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, or Michelle Obama.
