Biden Responds
In an assault yesterday morning on U.S. Military Personnel in Northern Iraq, three American soldiers were wounded, with one in critical condition. The Kataib Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militia, claimed responsibility for the attack. Responding swiftly, President Biden directed the Defense department to prepare various response options. Later in the afternoon, he personally called Defense Secretary Austin and authorized strikes on three locations utilized by Kataib Hezbollah. Adrienne Watson, spokesperson for the National Security Council (NSC), stated, "The protection of American personnel in harm's way is the President's top priority. The United States stands ready to act, at a time and in a manner of our choosing, should these attacks persist."
